A new step toward accurate transport emissions calculation
For many carriers and hauliers, transport emissions calculation has traditionally been based on distance — how far a truck, ship, or train travels. But in real logistics operations, not all fuel is used on the move. Some activities, like loading, unloading, or running refrigeration or cranes, involve vehicles that are stationary but still consume fuel and emit CO2.
These emissions require a different calculation method and separate parameters for accurate calculation.
Many tools and reporting models assume that all emissions come from driven kilometers. In reality, stationary time can account for a significant share of total fuel use, especially for specialized vehicles and equipment.
That’s why we’ve introduced extended support for stationary vehicles and equipment in Proxio Emissions, giving carriers and shippers a more complete and accurate picture of their environmental impact.
How it works
In this new release that we shipped in October 2025, we’re introducing two new parameters that make time-based emissions reporting simple:
Transport duration – used when the vehicle is stationary or when distance is not relevant.
Fuel consumption per time unit – allows users to define how much fuel is consumed per hour or per minute for specific operations or equipment.
This means emissions can now be calculated based on the duration of a stationary activity — whether it’s an hour of engine idling, crane operation, or refrigeration time during loading.
Of course you can combine these parameters with all fuel types that is available in the Proxio platform.
For users managing large or diverse fleets, this unlocks a more realistic and data-driven view of emissions performance across all transport activities.
Benefits for carriers and hauliers
For carriers, accurate emissions data is no longer just a reporting task — it’s a competitive advantage. Here’s how this update makes a difference:
Full fuel visibility – Include all operating scenarios in your fuel consumption reporting, from driving to idling to equipment use.
Compliance made easy – Stay aligned with ISO 14083 and GLEC without complex spreadsheet tracking.
Better customer reporting – Provide shippers and partners with transparent and complete emission data for each shipment.
Sustainability insights – Identify hotspots in operations and reduce unnecessary idling or equipment use.
By capturing emissions that were previously overlooked, hauliers can demonstrate both environmental responsibility and operational precision — qualities that shippers increasingly look for when selecting partners.
Moving toward complete transport emissions calculation transparency
With the addition of stationary vehicle and equipment support, we’re continuing to simplify the path toward accurate, comprehensive, and compliant emissions reporting.
As the logistics industry transitions toward more transparent and sustainable operations, understanding every part of your fuel use, whether driving or stationary, becomes essential.
